How is National Full Potential delivered?

The project is youth led and we encourage young d/Deaf people to be actively involved in planning and delivering activities as volunteers through the project’s steering group.

RAD recruited 4 regional partners in year one. Before activities began, each partner organisation attended a training weekend to understand the role of the steering group and how the steering groups would be involved in Full Potential.

RAD organised a launch week in October 2007, which was held at a residential activity centre in Lincolnshire. Each National Full Potential partner brought their own group of young d/Deaf people with
over one hundred d/Deaf youths from different regions attending.

Regional steering groups
Each regional Full Potential partner has their own steering group. The steering group develops ideas for local youth led activities and helps with the delivery of these activities. Each regional steering group
has representatives on the National Steering Conference.

Local activities delivered
Each regional Full Potential partner has a different target for the number of youths that they have to recruit and they must deliver a minimum of one activity in each financial year to these youths.

National Full Potential steering conference
At the National Steering Group Conference in April 2008, a representative from each regional steering group gave a presentation about their project delivery in year one. The presentation also included an evaluation, a review and an outline of future plans for years two and three.

There will be another National Steering Conference in March 2010. This will be a large, full day conference to celebrate the achievements over the three years of the project. The event is hoping to attract 200 youths as well as their families, friends and other d/Deaf organisations. The day will offer fun activities and lots of stalls.
